’59 High Wind PAF Set
A modern tribute to the most coveted humbuckers ever made. These pickups are my take on the legendary ’59 PAF — built using carefully cloned vintage-spec components and traditional construction methods to capture the character, clarity and harmonic depth that made the originals famous.
This High Wind version takes the classic ’59 formula and pushes it slightly further. With a few extra winds compared to my Vintage ’59 set, these pickups deliver a fuller response, thicker mids and a little more drive — while still retaining the openness, articulation, and touch sensitivity that define a great PAF.
Whether you’re chasing rich blues tones, classic rock crunch or expressive clean sounds, this set provides the warmth, clarity and dynamic response that only a properly built PAF-style pickup can deliver.
Built with True Vintage-Spec Components
Every element has been selected or reproduced to match the materials and construction of the late-1950s originals.
- USA-made Butyrate Bobbins
- Machine wound with USA-made Elektrisola 42 AWG Plain Enamel wire
- Correct turns-per-layer winding pattern, matching vintage pickups
- Cloned roughcast Alnico V magnets formulated from vintage samples
- UK-Made Nickel silver covers with copperless plating and correct dimpled pole screw holes
- UK-Made Nickel silver baseplates
- Correct alloy pole screws and slugs
- Maple spacer
- Braided two-strand vintage-style hookup wire
