Low Wind ‘57–’58 PAF Style Humbucker Set

Chasing the character of the earliest PAF pickups, this set is my take on the legendary late-’50s humbuckers. Built with painstakingly sourced, vintage-spec parts and careful winding methods, they deliver the clarity, bite and musical response that made the originals so revered.

This is the low wind version, offering a touch more brightness and edge than the “Vintage ’59” set. Expect a lively top end, articulate mids and the kind of dynamic response that lets your guitar and playing style speak for themselves.

Every component has been chosen to stay as faithful as possible to late-’50s construction.

• USA-made butyrate bobbins

• Machine wound using USA-made Elektrisola 42 AWG plain enamel wire, with vintage-correct turns per layer

• Cloned roughcast Alnico 5 magnets, formulated from original vintage examples

• UK-made nickel silver covers with copper-free plating and correct dimpled pole screw holes

• UK-made nickel silver baseplates

• Correct alloy pole screws and slugs

• Maple spacer

• Vintage-style braided two-strand hookup wire

DC Resistance

• Neck: 7.0kΩ

• Bridge: 7.7kΩ

The result is a pickup set that captures the spirit of the earliest PAFs: open, touch-sensitive, and full of harmonic detail. Clean tones remain clear and three-dimensional, while pushed amps reveal the crisp attack and bite that defined so many classic recordings.
