The “Cooder-Tele” Bridge: 60s Mojo for Your T-Style

The legendary Gold Foil chime—now ready for the bridge of your Telecaster.

If you’ve seen Ry Cooder’s iconic “Cooder-caster,” you know the Strat-sized Gold Foil is the secret to that haunting, woody, and percussive slide tone. We’ve taken that exact 1960s Teisco specification and prepared it for a Telecaster bridge mounting.

This isn’t just a “vintage-style” pickup; it’s a faithful recreation of the internals that defined an era of lo-fi brilliance, adapted for the world’s most versatile workhorse guitar.

Authentic 60s Architecture

We don’t compromise on the ingredients. To get the “Cooder” sound, you need the original recipe:

  • The Wire: Hand-wound with 44AWG wire for that specific, sweet compression.

  • The Magnet: Rubberised ceramic magnets, providing the soft but punchy magnetic field unique to the 60s Japanese units.

  • The Build: Premium Nickel covers—no cheap plastic or thin chrome.

Sonic Signature

Expect a bright but full sound that completely redefines what your Tele bridge can do. While a standard Tele pickup is all about the “twang,” this Gold Foil offers incredible string definition and clarity with a more “airy,” acoustic-like resonance. It’s the ultimate choice for slide players and fingerstyle purists.

The Fit & Aesthetic

Note on Mounting: Because this is a Strat-sized format (), it is narrower than a standard Telecaster bridge pickup. When mounted in a traditional Tele bridge plate, there will be a small, visible gap on either side. This is the hallmark of a true “Cooder-mod” and adds a raw, boutique aesthetic to your instrument.
