The Legend, Refitted: Humbucker-Sized Alnico Staple Pickup

This is a classic that truly requires no introduction. The “Staple” pickup is the stuff of tone legend—originally designed to be the sophisticated, high-fidelity sibling to the P90. We’ve taken that iconic recipe and engineered it to fit perfectly into a standard PAF humbucker route.

If you love the growl of a P90 but crave more “hi-fi” definition and a snappier top-end, this is the pickup your neck position has been waiting for.

Precision Engineering & Tone

Unlike a standard P90, this build features adjustable Alnico staple magnets. This allows you to fine-tune the string-to-string balance with surgical precision.

Hand-wound with 42AWG wire, this pickup delivers a voice that is notably brighter and more articulate than a standard P90, yet it retains that unmistakable single-coil character and grit when you dig in. It’s the perfect middle ground between a traditional single-coil and a full-blown humbucker.

UK Craftsmanship

We don’t cut corners on materials. These are built using UK-made parts and high-quality nickel silver covers. To ensure a seamless look on your guitar, the covers are the exact same dimensions as our standard PAF covers and are available in two distinct finishes:

  • Classic Nickel-Plated: For that timeless, vintage-correct glow.

  • Black Powder-Coated: For a sleek, modern, or “stealth” aesthetic.

The Perfect Pairing

Currently available as a 7K Neck unit, this pickup is designed to play well with others. For the ultimate tonal versatile setup, we highly recommend pairing it with our Humbucker-Sized P90 in the bridge. Together, they offer a massive range of textures, from smooth jazz-box warmth to raw, rock-and-roll bridge bite.
