Description
The “Special” Flagship: Hand-Wound ‘Vintage Hot’ Stratocaster Set
As any regular visitor here knows, I am an unrepentant Pre-CBS devotee. Since 2011, my life has been a quest to clone the legendary pickups from my own vintage collection and the countless museum-grade examples I’ve been fortunate enough to blueprint.
This is our best-selling Stratocaster set. It captures the quintessential early-60s “black-bottom” soul but addresses the one flaw many vintage sets have: the thin bridge pickup. By overwinding the bridge to a “Vintage Hot” specification, we’ve added the necessary muscle and mid-range authority without sacrificing that iconic 60s chime.
Proprietary Materials & Pure Obsession
What separates a Mojo set from the rest of the boutique market is the DNA of our materials.
-
Exclusive Mojo Wire: We don’t use generic off-the-shelf copper. Our 42 AWG Heavy Formvar wire is manufactured exclusively for us—faithfully cloned and colour-matched to original Pre-CBS stock.
-
The Fullerton Method: Our flatwork is traditionally punched, not laser-cut, preserving the structural integrity and fibre density of the bobbins.
-
Nitro-Dipped: Each bobbin features hand-rounded edges and is dipped in a nitrocellulose lacquer bath, just as they were in the golden era.
-
Bevelled Magnetics: We use 0.187″ Alnico 5 magnets, hand-bevelled in-house to ensure the correct magnetic field and that signature 60s “quack” in positions 2 and 4.
Technical Specifications & Output Calibration
AIOSEO rewards structured data, and your customers want to see the numbers. This table highlights the “Vintage Hot” calibration that makes this set so versatile.
The “Vintage Hot” Output:
-
Neck: 5.8kΩ (Warm, woody, and bell-like)
-
Middle: 6.0kΩ (Balanced for perfect “cluck” and cancellation)
-
Bridge: 6.8kΩ (The Sweet Spot: Extra fullness and drive for leads)
Hand-Built with No Concessions
Every set is scatter-wound by hand to ensure a frequency response that feels “alive” under your fingers. To tame unwanted feedback while preserving the pickup’s harmonic detail, we use a traditional Black Bee and paraffin wax blend.
Finished with period-correct cloth-covered hookup wire and supplied complete with covers and mounting screws. This is the definitive 1960s experience, refined for the modern player who demands a bridge pickup that can truly cut through the mix.
Built in the UK. Voiced by history. No compromises.
